Process Heat Efficiency
Reduce heat loss and improve how energy is used across furnaces, ovens and thermal processes.
Reduce avoidable heat loss and improve thermal energy use across industrial operations.
The process still reaches temperature. It is just using more to get there.
Industrial heat is expensive. It also affects product quality, throughput, emissions and plant reliability.
In many facilities, heat is being lost in several places at once — through flue gases, through furnace or oven surfaces, through air leakage, through long idle periods and through systems that were not designed for the way the plant now operates. The losses may not be obvious because the process still reaches temperature. But it is using more fuel, more time and more energy than it needs to.
Fuel & Heat Loss
High specific fuel consumption per tonne or batch
Heat loss through exhaust gases
Heat loss through furnace or oven surfaces
High idle energy consumption
Cycle & Quality
Long heat-up cycles
Uneven temperature profile
Inconsistent output quality
Measurement & Planning
Poor load matching between equipment and production schedule
Energy use that is not properly measured or tracked
High operating cost that cannot easily be attributed to a single cause
Encon looks at the complete heat journey.
Where is heat generated? Where is it transferred to the load? Where is it lost — through flue gases, surfaces, poor control or operating practice? Where can it be recovered? Where can better control make the system more consistent and measurable?
The assessment covers burners, furnace or oven geometry, insulation condition, flue gas behaviour, air supply, controls and how the system is actually being operated day to day. The solution is built around what that assessment shows.
It may involve burner upgrades, furnace or oven modifications, recuperators, regenerative burners, improved insulation, heat recovery systems, automation or process control improvements. In many cases it involves a combination of these — because heat efficiency is rarely lost in just one place.
Combustion improvement
Correcting air-fuel ratio, flame pattern and burner sizing to reduce fuel waste and improve heat transfer.
Heat recovery
Recuperators and regenerative burners recovering flue gas heat and returning it to the process as preheated combustion air.
Insulation and surface loss reduction
Identifying and reducing heat loss through furnace walls, roofs, doors and oven surfaces.
Controls
Temperature, pressure and air-fuel ratio control that makes the process consistent, measurable and less dependent on operator judgement.
Furnace and oven retrofit
Modifications to geometry, burner layout, air circulation and sealing where the equipment no longer matches the operating requirement.
Energy measurement
Helping plants track fuel consumption, cycle time and output in a way that makes efficiency gains visible and sustained.
Selected around the specific losses and opportunities in the plant.
Process heat efficiency improvements draw on a combination of burner technology, heat recovery equipment, insulation, controls and oven or furnace systems.

Automation & Controls
Lower fuel bills, better quality, higher throughput — and performance that can be measured.
Process heat efficiency improvements show up across the operation, in ways that can be sustained.
Fuel & Heat Loss
Reduced specific fuel consumption
Less fuel per tonne or per batch, measured against the plant's own baseline.
Lower heat loss through flue gases and surfaces
The two largest loss paths in most fired systems, addressed together.
Lower emissions
Emissions fall in step with the fuel that is no longer burned.
Lower operating cost per tonne or batch
Efficiency expressed in the unit the plant actually costs its output in.
Cycle & Quality
More consistent temperature profile
The same thermal curve run after run, rather than one that varies with conditions.
Shorter heat-up cycles
Less time spent reaching temperature frees capacity at the end of the line.
Improved batch and process consistency
Repeatable heat means repeatable product.
Improved productivity
More output from the same equipment and the same shift pattern.
Measurement & Planning
Energy use that can be measured, tracked and improved over time
Efficiency that can be demonstrated to management, not just asserted.
Measured on real plants.
